About Us.
The Boomers Journeys.
Tom and I met and married well over 30 years ago. We are parents to two beautiful daughters and we live in Bend, Oregon. We are officially now a retired boomer couple and while many folks think of that milestone as the time to officially lean into traveling, we chose to begin that journey over 35 years ago, and still counting! We began our first journey before getting married with a trip to Australia and Kauai, HI. That was the beginning of our love to travel. Our destinations also include; The USA, Europe, United Kingdom, Caribbean, Mexico, Canada, Indonesia, Central America, Singapore and South Africa.
Many people our age (men and women boomers) have similar vacation experiences growing up. Vacations that mostly involved visiting family in other towns, cities and states and vice versa. When we would hear of a friend that traveled to an”exotic” place, like Hawaii or somewhere we looked at them in awe. Maybe because boomers’ parents were little kids during the end of the depression and suffered through World War II they didn’t seem really keen on traveling the world, so “exotic” vacations were not the norm. It was a HUGE deal just to go to DisneyLand!!
Television brought the world to us with the news and gave us the imagination and incentive to travel and meet it firsthand. So, we boomers are a bit of the rebellious bunch and many of us found travel as the way to experience the world and its cultures.
Our travel style has changed through the years. While raising two girls we had to adopt a style to fit our family. Then ultimately evolving to the style in which we travel now. Our style of travel now is focused on independent journeys and affordable luxury.
We have learned how to organise, plan and implement our own travel journeys. We have dove head first into new technologies and staying current with new trends. We like to travel independently and do all the planning ourselves. We believe that in the 30+ years of traveling together we have gained some insight regarding planning, researching, organizing, packing and lifestyle tips to share, and in turn, maybe learn something new from you!
